A
Jazz Winter's
Eve

January 28, 2017, at the Bellingham Marketplace Plaza Theatre, Bellingham, Massachussetts

A Song and Dance Revue featuring
the music of the David Ramsay Quartet

Savor the winter blues.

In Through the Looking Glass, Lewis Carroll wrote "Go to sleep, darlings, until summer comes again." What is this myth that we should become dormant during the winter. Sure, the temperatures drop quickly in New England, as does the sun, and snow covers those last green traces of life. So ... we must stay indoors; we must sleep? Song Caravan has something else in mind, and it ain't sleeping. Rather, it's something that will make you want to get up and dance.

It's called "A Jazz Winter's Eve" and it's happening at a location just down the road, the Bellingham Marketplace Theatre on January 28, 2017, at 8pm. Our cabaret-style event will present and explore simultaneous improvisation through two artistic mediums, live jazz and modern dance. The jazz selections will be performed by the David Ramsay Quartet. Joining David is Guitarist Craig Hlady, Bassist Greg Silva, and Drummer Randy Cloutier. The modern and improvisational dance will be performed by Vincent Brewer and Haley Kehoe.

Jazz is all about improvisation: while there is usually structure to the improvised solos, the soloist is free to use a musical vocabulary to express him or herself. This unique event is offering our dancers the same opportunity of expression except they are using a dance vocabulary to tell their story. Dance improvisation blossoms when mime storytelling and form creation, sometimes abstract and other times recognizably reminiscent of real life,  are courageously utilized. Song Caravan has created a unique event, at an intimate venue, to showcase this absolute freedom of expression for deeply, and musically, sensitive dancers, and a showcase of wholesome entertainment suitable for the young or the young at heart, as a romantic night out that's near to home, or for a birthday celebration with a friend.

It may be winter but that doesn't mean you don't deserve a delightful night, full of spontaneity and surprise. And if you have any questions, please reach out to us and we will get back to you quickly. Reach Out.

Tickets for this special event can be purchased in the theatre lobby
the night of the performance. Cash or check only. Thank you
and we will see you there.
